About this work
Medallion with the portrait of gunner Johannes van der Vlerk, half-length in profile to the left, above a trophy with cannon, powder barrel, and flags. He fell in the battle at Vreeswijk outside Utrecht between armed citizens of the Utrecht militia and troops of the Van Efferen regiment on May 9, 1787.
