About this work

The inn is likely The Angel Inn in Islington with Tom Bates as the proprietor. On top of the coach departing for London sit an English marine and a French infantryman. At the rear, a procession of people turning against John Child Tylney for the upcoming elections with the slogan 'No Old Baby'.
