About this work

The castle of Wachtendonk taken by stratagem by the Spaniards and held for six days, 5-11 March 1603. Bird's-eye view plan of the city and the battles around the castle, to the left. To the left a cartouche with an inscription in Dutch about the conquests between 1588-1603 and the name of the maker, to the right a compass with scale bar and a compass rose. Part of the collection of maps taken from a later edition of: Descrittione di tutti i Paesi Bassi by Lodovico Guicciardini.
