About this work

Nineteenth print from a series of drawing examples of unknown extent. Study sheet with heads, animals, and insects. In the center two portraits, from left to right: Frederick III the Wise (Electoral Prince of Saxony) and Quinten Massys (the latter with his name, place of death, and year). Between them two peaches. Around the portraits various animals and insects including a toucan (after an illustration by Gessner), fox, hare (after Aegidius Sadeler), elephant beetle, and butterfly (after Hoefnagel).
