About this work
De Bruyn had a preference for making sizeable engravings. His floral still life after a painting by Jacob Savery is one of the largest ever printed. This notwithstanding, the rendering of the flowers is refined and delicately detailed. The birds filling the empty corners were a clever addition devised by the engraver.
