About this work

'Capote' of satin, trimmed with a strip of tulle. Around the shoulders a long scarf, tied at the back. The bodice of the gown is laced at the back and at the hem decorated with a diamond motif of silk and pearls. Coloured stockings and flat shoes with pointed toes. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Sellèque, Paris, 1797-1839.
