About this work

'Merveilleuse' in a ball gown with short puffed sleeves and richly decorated bodice. The bottom of the skirt is decorated with a circular motif of ruffles and bows. The hairstyle is decorated with flowers and a diadem. Long gloves, one of which is loose in the hand. Further accessories: earrings, necklace consisting of two strands, flower corsage, flat shoes with bows. The print is part of a series of 33 fashion prints, engraved by George Jacques Gatine, Paris, 1810-1818.
