About this work
Prominent woman, dressed in a manteau with train and engageantes. She wears a devant-de-gorge (bodice), transparent wide shawl around her shoulders, skirt and decorative apron. Fontange hairstyle and 'pallisade'. Accessories: earrings, thin shawl trimmed with tassels, long gloves and fan. Four mouches in her face. The print is a mirror-image copy of number 58 from a series of 73 costume prints, drawn by J.D. de Saint-Jean, Paris, 1683-1694.
