About this work

Servant brings a letter and a cup of chocolate to her mistress in the bathroom. She wears a striped gown, which is lifted at the back. Over the bodice and skirt a pinafore is pinned. Around the neck and shoulders a fichu. Accessories: cap, cord around the neck, shoes with buckles. The woman in the bath is wrapped in a wide robe, on her head a cap. Next to the bath heeled slippers. The print is an accurate reproduction or facsimile of number 2 from the Suite d'estampes pour servir à l'histoire des moeurs et du costume Français dans le 18e Siecle, drawn by Sigismond Freudeberg, 1774.
