About this work
Standing woman, seen from the back, with a turban on her head: 'turban à l'algérienne'. She wears a 'spencer à l'algérienne' with a loop pattern on a dress with a train. A bag or 'sac' called 'ridicule' (reticule), in the shape of a 'Corbeille'. According to the caption, this depiction was drawn from life at the 'Théâtre Italien'. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Sellèque, Paris, 1797-1839.
