About this work

Standing woman dressed in a 'spencer à la Hussarde' over a skirt, decorated at the hem with four ruffles with a scalloped hem. On her head a hat with ostrich feathers: 'chapeau de Virginie'. Further accessories: parasol, flat shoes with crossed straps and bows. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
