About this work

Standing woman dressed in a 'gros de Naples' japon. 'Mantille' of tulle with embroidered flowers in Kashmir. On her head a crêpe hat trimmed with a satin 'rouleaux', flowers and tulle ribbons. Further accessories: earrings, gloves, belt, flat shoes with straps. Figure in the same japon, seen from the back. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
