About this work

Man (no. 2): coat adorned with an astrakan collar. 'Habit' of wool. Waistcoat of velvet over a waistcoat of piqué. Long trousers of cashmere. Woman (no. 1.): hat of 'gros de Naples', adorned with bands of velvet. Jacket of merino wool, adorned with a bias band of satin. Print from the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, Frankfurt-am-Main, 1798-1848. The man is a copy after No. 2277 and the woman after No. 2278 from Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
