About this work

Seated woman dressed in a dress of 'paupeline'(?), trimmed with leaves of satin. Bodice and sleeves of tulle, chevron of satin. On her head a hat of 'crêpe lisse', decorated with a large plume. Further accessories: earrings, gloves, fan, shoes with pointed toes and bows. Feet on a footstool. To the left, a seated woman, seen from the back, dressed in an identical dress with short sleeves. Scarf around the shoulders. Print from the fashion magazine Petit Courrier des Dames (1821-1868).
