About this work

A woman and a girl in communion attire at an open church door. The girl gives a coin to a beggar who holds up his hat. Left: white dress for First Holy Communion or Confirmation with mameluke sleeves. On her head, a long transparent veil. Bible in hand. Right: black shoulder mantle on a blue dress with a wide skirt. Accessories: yellow hat with ribbon bows, bracelets on both wrists, short gloves. Print from the fashion magazine Journal des Demoiselles (1833-1922).
