About this work
Print based on the story 'Les Lunettes' by Jean de La Fontaine. A boy disguises himself as a nun to be closer to his beloved. When she turns out to be pregnant, all the nuns must undress for inspection. The print shows the moment the Mother Superior discovers the boy and her glasses fall off in shock. In the background, the pregnant girl (Agnes) stands sorrowful with downcast eyes.
