About this work

A monumental staircase, flanked by buildings, chapels, rocks and an aqueduct leading to a church. A long procession of priests and other clergy ascends the stairs. In the right foreground is a stable with donkeys, cows, goats and pigs. Centrally in the foreground stands a pillar with a cross and inscription. In front of it a horse is rolling on the ground.
