About this work
Mercury, standing in a niche, a caduceus in his left hand, a winged hat on his head and winged shoes on his feet. This print is part of a series of eight prints of classical gods, based on paintings by Polidoro da Caravaggio on the façade of a Roman house, seen by Goltzius in Rome and redrawn. Print on yellow-colored paper, serpent staff Mercury heightened with white or oxidized silver.
