About this work
Christ on the cross with Mary and John from the Little Passion. The woodcut is hand-colored and heightened with gold (Mary's mantle) and presumably used in a prayer book, given the (faded) pen inscriptions in brown ink at the top right: ''samendi'' and below. On the verso, a twenty-three-line French prayer to Christ is written in pen with brown ink.
