About this work

Mary Magdalene is depicted in early 16th-century costume, with a halo around her head. She sits at a table with food, in the company of two men and a woman. Two maids stand beside the table. The seated woman plays the lute, while a man holds a songbook and sings. In the background, the Assumption of Mary Magdalene is depicted in a rocky landscape. With an inscription from Genesis 6.
