About this work

Political allegory based on the Grimm brothers' fairy tale of the Seven Swabians attacking a hare with a lance. The Swabians are represented as various European characters including a Frenchman, a Catholic priest, and a Dutchman. The besieged hare stands next to a stone with the coat of arms of the English royal house.
