About this work
Pasted into this sketchbook are 131 French, German, and Flemish ornament prints and biblical depictions, including a series of blackwork ornaments by the enameller Jean Toutin. This page presents the back of a heart-shaped medallion with a floral pattern as inspiration for an engraver or enamel worker. Under the eye is a small figure with hands holding bunches of fruit on either side.
