About this work
Venus, as a naked woman, sits under a tree on the lap of a young man who embraces her. She is surrounded by Bacchus, who pours her wine, and Ceres, who provides her with fruit. Cupid aims his arrow at her and the man. Illustration of the saying 'Sine Cerere et Baccho friget Venus' (without Ceres and Bacchus, Venus freezes), or, without food and wine, love freezes.
