About this work

Frieze with the letters A, B, C, D, E, F. The frieze is part of an alphabet built from ornaments and grotesque figures. The entire alphabet was printed from a single plate. The impression has been preserved intact for a long time. The four friezes were only later cut apart, as evidenced by the continuity of stains. The four strips were originally mounted together as one sheet.
