About this work

Landscape with a river in a valley. To the left, Abraham and Isaac are on the mountain where Isaac is to be sacrificed. Isaac carries the wood for the altar fire. At the top of the mountain, Abraham raises his knife to sacrifice his son, but an angel stops him. To the right, next to Abraham, stands the ram that is sacrificed instead of Isaac (Gen. 22:10). At the bottom of the mountain, two men with shepherd's crooks look on. The print is part of an album.
