About this work

In preparation for her visit to King Ahasuerus, Esther prays and fasts for three days with her maids. She asks her people to do the same. Before Esther lies her crown. The subject is here used as an image of Sara praying to God after she was insulted by one of her father's maids. Sara was bewitched by the evil spirit Asmodeus who had killed all her seven husbands on the wedding night. This print forms part of an album.
