About this work

In a crowded salon, a child begins to cry after seeing a painting by Louis Gallait. This is likely "The Last Tribute to the Counts of Egmond and Horn," made around 1851, showing a bed with the severed heads of both counts. Text on verso. Numbered in the top right: 2.
