About this work
In front of a printing press stands a woman holding a book in her arms and an iris stem in her hand. Hanging from her belt are the tools of an engraver. Her gaze is directed at the personification of the wind trying to enter through the open window. On the workbench in the foreground hang tools of a bookbinder.
