About this work

On a podium stands a woman with a pointer stick, next to her hang three prints, attached to wooden sticks. These show: Paul Scarron behind his writing desk, Aesopus among the animals and the actor Henri Louis Cain on stage. On the corner of the podium stands a man with a violin, behind him a bookshelf on a pole. In front of the audience a man with a hunchback, below the image a song in 4 verses to the melody: "mon pere etoit pot".
