About this work
In a study, a man sits with a drum on his lap on which "Journal" is written. In one hand he holds a pen with bubbles, and by means of a cord between both hands he operates four marionettes. Around him are piles of paper, on the wall a bookcase and some prints. The man possibly represents the publisher Aubert.
