About this work

Influenced by Dutch and French art, Schenau's prints showcase flowing contours, vivid expressions, and dramatic gestures. His unique style is evident in the figure of the print seller, holding up sheets of paper in a dancer-like pose. A sign further beckons the customer: 'Buy my small etchings.' This print is from a series by Schenau depicting children playing at being adults.
