About this work
Eight scenes with the four evangelists and the four Church Fathers flank the title. At the top God sits enthroned flanked by a kneeling Christ and Mary and saints. At the bottom the kneeling writer Dionysius the Carthusian (also Dionysius of Louvain) in ecstasy on clouds, with the Pope and religious figures on the left and right, and the Emperor and other rulers as witnesses.
