The City Maiden of Ghent sits enthroned with a banner and a cartouche with a title in her hand. At her feet lies the Ghent Lion. The City Maiden is flanked by four female virtues; on the far left and right stand two women who are blindfolded and hold a sword and scales in their hand (possibly personifying Justice), on the left front stands a woman with a cartouche with shaking hands, on the right front a woman with a burning heart and a child in her arms (possibly (Neighborly) Love). Above the throne, a crowned coat of arms and six portrait medallions of rulers.
