About this work
A fight between the brothers Inuzuka Shino and Inukai Genpachi on the roof of the Hôryûkaku pavilion. This print depicts a part of the story 'The Adventures of the Eight Dogs of Satomi' (Nansô Satomi hakkenden), written between 1814-41 by Takizawa Bakin. It tells of the eight brothers who had Princess Fuse as mother and a dog as father. After losing sight of each other and many adventures and fights later, they recognize each other again by their tattoos. (vertical diptych)
