Thesis by Jean-Baptiste Colbert de Seignelay dedicated to Louis XIV. Minerva and Science lead the king to the text of the thesis; Victory offers him the attributes of Hercules. Above: Fame blows a trumpet and Hercules rides in the king's chariot. In the background, a fountain with allegories of French rivers is under construction.
