About this work

Street fights following the change of magistrates in Nijmegen, 2 January 1703. Groups of soldiers and citizens shooting at each other on the street in front of the town hall. Struggle between the supporters of the 'Oude Plooi' (the sitting regents) and the 'Nieuwe Plooi' (commoners, new regents) supported by the Maasschippers.
