About this work
Groningen printer, artist and resistance fighter Werkman was shot dead by the Nazis shortly before the end of the Second World War. This print is one of the few works in which he depicted the war which would cost him his life. A group of resistance members, depicted here as shadows, has gathered together on the street shortly before the curfew begins in order to have a secret conversation in the twilight.
