About this work
The diligent student Goodchild and his wife are seated at a large banquet in the Fishmongers' Hall. Below the image, a cartouche contains a text from Proverbs. Part of a series of twelve plates on the rise and fall of two students, Francis Goodchild and Thomas Idle, after the original plates by William Hogarth from 1747.
