Title Page for a Songbook (The Offering of Silvia)

On the right, on a throne, sits the half-naked nymph Silvia, next to her a personification of Poetry with laurel wreath and Mercury's staff. A young woman and man kneel before the altar at the foot of Silvia's throne and offer two baskets with dead birds. They are shot at from the air by Cupid. The scene is watched by richly dressed young men and women. Two of these women hold a songbook. On the left, a young woman leads an older man to Silvia's throne - presumably this concerns the poet of 'd'Offerhande van Silvia' in the inscription on the print.
