About this work
The silver cup was donated by students to Christiaan Bernhard Tilanus in honor of his 25th anniversary at the University of Amsterdam, as stated in the vignette at the bottom right. The vignette at the top right possibly shows Manius Curius Dentatus rejecting the gifts of the Samnites.
