About this work

Obadiah tries to bring his side-galloping horse to a halt. On the ground lie the fallen Dr. Slop and his pony. A spotted dog jumps over the doctor who lies under a signpost "To Shandy Hall". An illustration for Laurence Sterne’s The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman (York 1759-1767).
