About this work

Marianne (France) watches as a French officer breaks the sword of Justitia on his knee in the square in front of the École militaire. Parallel to the well-known depiction of the breaking of Alfred Dreyfus's sword on January 5, 1895. After the granting of clemency but the 'guilty' verdict by the court in the Dreyfus Affair in Rennes.
