About this work

Two pages with twenty-four affixed and labeled samples (430-510) of narrow, simply decorated ornamental borders in gold-colored metal foil (sample no. 565 missing). On the opposite left page, a table with handwritten corresponding specifications (in code) for each ornament. Part of the sample book donated by the Van Rijn ladies, presumably from a French manufacturer of luxury papers or its representative in the Netherlands, ca. 1830.
