About this work

Minister of Water Management, Trade and Industry Jacob N. Bastert is crowned by the river goddess of the Vecht while sitting among the reeds on the riverbank. On the right, Mercury, sitting on the Diemerbrug which blocks river traffic, looks on in disappointment.
