View of the sea from a beach with a dark cloudy sky that seems to break open at the horizon. To the right at the horizon is a sailing ship. According to Martin Hardie in the first catalogue raisonné of the etchings of Frank Short, the mezzotint is based on watercolors that Short made on the coast at Whitby Scaur in Yorkshire.
