About this work
Depiction of the cruelties committed by French troops in Dutch villages in the year 1672, copied from the prints by Romeyn de Hooghe from 1673 (FMH 2439). The scene shows the killing of the inhabitants of a village. In the foreground, a French soldier forces a naked woman through the ice. To the right, a burning house with the naked bodies of the murdered inhabitants piled up in front of the house. The print is numbered: 5.
