About this work
Plan of Scherpenheuvel with buildings in bird's-eye perspective, with the Basilica of Our Lady of Scherpenheuvel in the center. The title is at the top of the plan. Below the map are two legends A-R, in Latin on the left and in Dutch on the right. Between the legends is an emblem showing the adoration of a Marian image hanging from a tree. This scene relates to the founding story of the church. In the top left corner is the coat of arms of the King of Spain. In the top right corner is the coat of arms of Frederick Henry or William II of Orange.
