Plan of the fortifications surrounding the city of Lille (Rijsel) with the citadel, besieged from 22 August 1708 by the Allies under Prince Eugene of Savoy and taken on 23 October; the castle was captured on 8 December. Bottom left: the title cartouche with legend A-Q. Bottom right: a cartouche with the dedication to the Prince of Savoy, his coat of arms, and a scale bar: Eschelle de 400 Toises.
