About this work

Map with buildings in bird's-eye perspective. Above a banner with the title. Top left the legend 1-149 in German. To the right of it the city seal. Top right the legend 150-288 and the legend of the bastions 1-26 in German. Below it a scale bar: Measure of 1500 Amsterdam feet. To the left of this legend the city coat of arms. Bottom left Mercury and Jupiter with objects referring to trade and navigation. At the bottom in the middle a view of the city, seen from the IJ, with above it the Amsterdam Maiden. Bottom right a female figure with a crown, scepter and coins (possibly a personification of Europe) and three figures (personifications of Asia, Africa and America) offering her products from different continents. Orientation: south-southwest at the top.
