View of the Dam in Amsterdam. To the left of the center, the Town Hall. To the right of the center, the New Church with the never-completed tower, in front of it the Weigh House. In the top left, the coat of arms of the city; in the top right, the representation of the city seal. To the front left, the shop of Hendrick Hondius II, 'the Brave Dog', with a dog as a shop mark on the facade. On the Dam, market traders and merchants; to the right in the foreground, goods on the quay. In the inscription, an eight-line verse in Dutch.
